Aashiyaana Dance Academy...Indian and Belly Dance classes starting!!

Here's our first class... We have Indian choreographies coming in July!!

BellyDance for Beauty and Health
Have Fun and Feel Sexy while you Exercise

Tuesday nights starting May 20 2008
with Sherry VanGoethem
of ADC Performance Troupe and Dance Academy.
Held at the Center for True Harmony Wellness and Medicine
2152 S. Vineyard #138 Mesa AZ 8521
480-539-6646-ph

Classes will be from 6:20 to 7:20 on Tuesdays. $15/class

Details:

All levels are welcome!
We will be drilling the basic belly dance moves.
For the mid-level to advanced student: Create purified muscle memory in the moves and FULL extension in each of the moves.
For the beginner student: Introduce yourself to the beautiful and sensual moves of belly dance. Begin to master these moves by developing muscle memory.

Benefits:
Develop abdominal muscle strength and definition. You will work all part of your ‘six pack’, the upper, middle and lower abs.
Decrease back pain by learning the moves that will strengthen your lower back and upper back.
Increase arm strength and definition by mastering the belly dance posture
(I call it the Queen pose!)
Get a ‘bum lift’ ;) You will be doing great gluteal exercises to strengthen and actual lift your bum to give you rounded effect from hind sight.
Minimize that shoulder pain by opening up your chest muscles and ‘dropping your traps’. Do your shoulders feel like they are raised to your ears? We will stop that!

In each class we will target different body parts and drill the moves to make each class fun, different, progressive, did I mention …FUN FUN FUN. Listen to great grooving music, move your body, increase your heart rate and learn dance you can take home to your man;)

NATIUM World Dance & Kahlea will be hosting 2008's Bohemian Nights, a bellydance collection. The showcase will be a monthly or every other monthly showcase of all types of bellydance. Alterna-cirque bellies WELCOME!

Shows will take place at a venue in the Tempe area and will have an oldey timey, circus side-show, exotic feel. Bellydancers of all disciplines are welcome from:

Traditional : Egyptian, Turkish, Orientale, Persian, etc...
Tribal: ATS, World Tribal, Fusion, Modern Fusion, and Goth Fusion
World dance: West African, Eastern Euro folk, Flamenco, Zambra, Folklorico
Circus/show dance: Little Egypt, Mata Hari, Aerialists, themed...

Enter another place and time where world fusion bellydance company, NATIUM World Dance, known for blending various world dance flavors with bellydance, hosts Bohemian Nights, A bellydance cirque. This showcase of talent takes place in 2008 at _________, in Tempe Arizona.
As audiences wander in they are greeted with sights, sounds and scents evocative of exotic destinations, worlds away, and of times forgotten. From the rich looking textiles and decorations from other countries, to the sounds of worlds coming together under one roof, audiences will feel as though traveling to mysterious, foreign lands. Wander through the mini bazaar to barter, haggle and bid on unique objects d'arte from artisans and vagabonds.

Each Bohemian Nights showcase kicks off with a free mini bellydance lesson to familiarize the audience with this art form and to incite excitement for the dance jam later. Then, Bohemian Nights becomes a two hour-long showcase of dancers, ranging from student performers showing off what they've learned in classes, to semi-professionals desirous of more exposure, to special professional dancer guest stars who will light up the night. Some performers will dance with props such as swords, Chinese fans, fire, veils, skirts and more. After each event, the dance floor opens up for all dancers, whether in the show or in the audience, to get up and take part in an open-floor bellydance soiree, into the night. Performers from the show come out to dance and migle with the audience and to do a meet and greet. The showcase becomes a party for all to participate.

These events are for 21 and over crowds only, as the venue serves liquor. Come hungry too as the menu has tasty treats from appetizers to delicious grilled burgers.

A portion of ticket sales will be donated to a charity or used to benefit a local business selected by NATIUM World Dance, with a different charity or business selected for each show. Raffle tickets sold will also benefit these select organizations, with all proceeds donated to that charity or business. Gratuities and tips are always appreciated, a portion of which may also be donated to the charity or business selected as well.

Hello All!
I will be teaching a fabulous choreography to some upbeat yet sultry hiphop music at the Mystic Jewell studio on Thursdays (starting Jan 10, 2008) at 6.10p. The cost is only $15 per class, or get a session card and its bumped down to $12 a class! You can't beat that. We will be teaching a skill levels, (I have many assistants for the class, so the newbies will be able to keep up, and those more advanced will be challenged). Take a look at the preview performance I did at the recital in December. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sEZvaXfaFU

Get ready to be a Divine Slithery, Pop and Locky bundle of brilliance by the end of 8 weeks!
Check out www.mysticjewell.com for the class schedule!! :)

Holy mackerel!

If you were planning to register for BBBF you had better do it now! Three of the workshops are sold out and the other three are only a few spots away from being full.

Sold out workshops:
Saturday, October 6 11am-1pm Smooth Moves and Combinations with Zafira
Saturday, October 6 1:30pm-3:30pm The Fast and The Furious with Unmata
And Sunday, October 7 1:30pm-3:30pm Au Naturel - Tribal Fusion Combinations with Unmata

GOOD NEWS: We are working on a plan to offer a limited number of the workshops a second time at a studio next door to The Mystic Jewell. If you are dying to take a workshop that has sold out, let us know by signing up on our hotlist:

www.mysticjewell.com/boomboo...list.asp

If you let us know what you want to take we will let you know first when it comes avaliable again, but PLEASE do this using the hotlist link on the website. Don't e-mail us, we are FLOODED with e-mails!

Also, we have a change in the workshop line-up. On Sunday, Oct 7th, the Zafira Sword Workshop at 11am-1pm has been changed to a Shimmy workshop! Yay for shimmies! Due to space limitations with swords, we’ve decided to change it up and offer a workshop that allows for more dancers to sign up.

Here’s the Shimmy Workshop Description, and you KNOW you want to take it! Who can resist SHIMMIES?!!

3/4 Shimmies!

Take your shimmies to the next level! In this workshop we will cover the classic 3/4 shimmy, with walking, layering exercises and drills. We will also take the 3/4 shimmy to parts of our bodies you never knew were supposed to 3/4 shimmy!

We will cover 4/4 shimmies as well to better understand and get better control of our hips.

To finish off our workshop we'll cover some unique combos utilizing what we learned, Zafira style!

Please bring water and a yoga mat for warm up & cool down.

If you want to take the shimmy workshop I suggest you sign up quick as this one is right around the corner from selling out too!

See you all soon!!

hey gals! Maria from Zafira is bringing her darling 3yr old along with her to BoomBoomBellyfest and is looking for someone who might be able to take care of him at the Studio while she's teaching workshops and performing. It wouldn't be all day - just during her "work" times and she's offering pay! If you're interested, please email me directly (I don't check Tribe that often these days) at domba@cox.net.

Want to get involved in BoomBoomBellyfest? Well, we’re looking for some volunteers! We need a little help to keep things running smoothly on Sat and Sun, Oct 6-7 for BoomBoomBellyfest. Projects such as setting up, running errands, checking people into workshops, cleaning up after workshops and the show, etc. (plus more that I’m sure we’ll think of as we get closer….). If you’re interested, we would LOVE LOVE LOVE your help! Yea, it doesn’t pay any monetary value but think of all the good karma you’ll be racking up, not to mention our undying gratitude!
Please email boomboombellyfest@yahoo.com with the days/times you’re available and we’ll definitely put your skills to work!
Thanks much and see you all at BoomBoomBellyfest!

Hello Everyone-

I want to extend a personal invite to all of you beautiful belly dancers out there to come check out "Aura" at the Mystic Jewell Studio.

This is a very unique event that gives the bellydance community an opportunity to hang out, socialize and dance without the pressure or constraints of a performance or venue. It is simply our way of providing a really cool laid back atmosphere with some fabulously belly danceable tunes so us girls (and guys) can just hang out and dance!

Absolutely everyone is welcome, we want to encourage the networking and community spirit of belly dancers everywhere. We are, after all, sisters (and brothers!) in dance!

Belly dance tunes from 7-10pm, transitions to belly trance for those brave souls thereafter. The music is also perfect for poi... spinners welcome, bring your LED gear!

If you have questions feel free to message me. The Mystic Jewell would love for you to join us, if you come and it is your first time please find us and introduce yourself!! :)

I've been waiting a bit to post this, just in case! I have a new little bun-bun on the way again and things with this pregnancy are going so much better than the last one! I'm at 17 weeks now and due in mid-August. ugh. definately NOT looking forward to an entire arizona summer in my last tri-mester. but what can you do? those little bun-buns come when they want to come!
so we'll be adding a Leo or Virgo to our household this year - a little Fire Pig according to Chinese astrology. not telling yet if it's a girl or boy unless you take me out for ice cream.
haha!

Open Bellydance - Aura: Emerald

Just posting a reminder that The Mystic Jewell Studio in collaboration with OvermindWorks is having our Aura event this Saturday, May 12th.

This is a very unique event that gives the bellydance community an opportunity to hang out, socialize and dance without the pressure or constraints of a performance or venue. It is simply The Mystic Jewell's way of providing a really cool laid back club like atmosphere with some fabulously bellydanceable tunes so us girls (and guys) can just hang out and dance! Absolutely everyone is welcome, we want to encourage the networking and community spirit of bellydancers everywhere. We are, after all, sisters (and brothers!) in dance. Bellydance tunes from 7-10pm, transitions to bellytrance for those brave souls thereafter. :) The music is also perfect for poi... spinners welcome!

Here is the info:

Feel free to pm me if you have questions. Hope to see you there!

Kosmos Music & Dance Camp, June 14th-17th...

Check out the website:

www.kosmoscamp.com

Featuring instructors Jill Parker, Liz Strong, Mira Betz, and Amy Sigil

The warm summer days at Kosmos Camp are filled with music and dance workshops. Dancers learn and perform on finished dance floors, with wall mirrors in the main lodge. Musicians enjoy instruction and practice opportunities in our open-air venues. Both dancers and musicians study with world-renowned professional teachers in a wide variety of styles from different cultures.
And all campers enjoy the luxuries of Saratoga Springs Resort, nestled just over 2 hours north of both San Francisco and Sacramento in 260 private acres of forest. Miles of hiking trails with breathtaking views of nearby Clearlake and access to natural mineral springs, surround a pair of lodges with both indoor sleeping accommodations and clean camp grounds, complete with a spacious pool and large jacuzzi. All meals are provided by our professional chef and feature a gourmet menu with an eclectic array of world cuisines and a full bar serving reasonably priced mixed drinks, beer, and wine after dinner. Evenings feature concerts and dance performances by students and staff in the immaculate Heart Lodge, and open-floor dancing with late-night jamming afterwards.

Ultimately, Kosmos is both a school of music and dance, as well as an unforgettable celebration among friends. It is a special getaway where people bond their passions and talents. We hope you join us and help create a unique community that we all can cherish in the years to come.

Bellydance - Burlesque - continuum or contraries?

Please help me, people!
Let's dig some dirt...I am open to controversy. What do folks see as the relationship between burlesque and tribal bellydance - for good, bad or ugly? Feel free to include, but think beyond the world of Zoe Jakes/BDSS/Yard Dogs and Nichole/Gypsyville/Panty Raid.
I am writing an article on this for a tribal mag - so help me.
Feel free to share thoughts on tribe, but so I don't miss anything, e- me your thoughts at onca@barakamundi.com.
Thanks a million!

I just discovered a boatload of pics from Boom Boom Bellyfest 05 or 06. If you were in that show, chances are, I have some pics of you!
I have (hername escapes me) Ocean's wife, the troupe from Fl;agstaff, I think the troupe from Nevada, Domba and BBBollywood, and some pics of groups I do not know. I havent listed them all here either. But, if you want copies of pics of yourself from that show, message me your email address so I can email you your pics. You may have to describe who you/your troupe are/is and what costumes you wore since I dont know all of the faces.
I tried to upload them into an online gallery but the files are humungo and I have dial up so my computer doesnt even do it. I may opt to load them in this tribes album to make it easier onmyself, but I dont know if the files are too large and I dont have time to resize em all.

Hi Domba dancers and Music lovers. I just joined Tribe and wanted to say hello. Some of you know me from my concerts and workshops in Phoenix last year. I'll be coming to Phoenix again on March 31st and April 1st with Souhail Kasper for workshops and a beautiful Hafla with live music and dancing.

If you ever wanted to learn how to sing an Arabic song or perform an Arabic melody on an instrument that you play, please come to one of my workshops. Souhail will also be doing a workshop on Rhythm and Movement especially for dancers in addition to his drumming workshops.

But, even if you can't make it to the workshops please come to the party on Saturday night to dance, listen and have a great time.

I want to get to know the Arizona dancers and musicians so please become my friend on Tribe, write to me, give me your ideas.

DHOMBA, a world/jazz fusion trio from Portland, Oregon just released their CD, SYCLINICITY. DHOMBA was founded in the early 90s s a neo-tribal 6 piece unit. It has, over the years, evolved into a more eclectic format of world beat jazz (with a club twist). The combination of percussion, keys and guita/mbira/didge have given us the somewhat rarified atomosphere of contemporary , improvisational jazz leaving open the visceral percussive qualities of world beat sound.

We'd love to share this with you. If you'd like a CD hit me back and I'll fix you right up!

Looking to trade a sheer beledi

I have one of the no-longer-made sheer beledi dresses made by Domba a couple of years ago in that black/silver kind of ribbed fabric-I know I am not doing a very good job at describing it, but if you have one you know exactly what I mean. Anyway-this is a long shot but I want a gold and black one. This one is used so your used one is fine. Mine is silver and black and silver looks baaaad on me. I am thinking the gold or the copper version would look much better.
Mine fits up to a size 16 or down to a size 12. Gorgeous sleeves, scoopable neckline with drawstring, side slits...
Like I said, it's a long shot but I figured I might try.

heidi's new venture!

Hello everyone!
As you all know, I have recently taken a break from my life-long passion of dance and Domba. This has given me so much time with my girls, which we are all incredibly happy to have. It has also given me lots of extra free time as well. What could I possibly be doing with all this new-found free time?, you ask. . . Well, in addition to having immeasurable time with my girls, I have also become a licensed Real Estate Agent! Wow, now that’s a change to the other end of the spectrum, isn’t it? Yes, I am now licensed with the Arizona Dept of Real Estate and am working with a fantastic team of Realtors who are incredibly down-to-earth (not pushy salespeople) and have been working in the valley for about 15 years.
I have found though, that you do need your friends, family and community to get the ball rolling – this is where you come in! heh heh heh. I have found that getting started in Real Estate is not as easy as it sounds - when everyone you know already owns a home, or is not looking for one at this time, you’re really starting from ground zero. How in the world do you get going and showing/selling houses? Well, you get your first referrals from your friends and family (that’s you!).
Now, I know what you’re thinking – everyone (and their dog) has a real estate license, and there are a myriad of people you can refer your friends too, yes? I think there are a few reasons why I can be the best choice for your referrals. First, I will be devoting extensive amounts of time to working in the industry (rather than being an occasional or part-time Real Estate Agent), which will give me the best experience and knowledge to help those who are looking to buy or sell their home. I also aim to give the most personable and quality customer service to all my clients. The same dedication and care I put into dance, our community, and my costumes, will also be given to your friends that you refer to me. I promise that when you send me your referrals, I will take care of them as if they were my own family and will make sure they are taken through the process of buying or selling their house as smoothly and happily as possible!
So how can I help, you ask? Here’s how!
I’ve enclosed my new phone number and email address and if you know of anyone looking to purchase or sell real estate, please pass my information along to them. If you would like business cards, send me your mailing address and I’ll send you some for your corkboard. Of course, you can always reach me at my domba address as well.
Thanks so much for all your help and I hope that I’ll be seeing some of you soon….either through dance or real estate – or both!
Love and kisses,
Heidi

APNA PUNJAB (translation=Our Punjab) is having their debut performance on Sunday November 19th, 2006 at Discover India, a Diwali Festival in downtown Phoenix. This is a fabulous Free event with much shopping and many performances, including the lovely Boom Boom Bollywood. See www.azindia.com for more details on the event. The Ladies of Apna Punjab are made up of various dancers from Black Opal, Domba, Boom Boom Bollywood and various other groups! We are performing a full Bhangra piece (so coming to support the sheer fact we can last 6 minutes of high intensity Bhangra would be great, hehe)! Come and have fun with Apna Punjab!

Special Event at The Mystic Jewell

Hello ladies (and gents)-

I just want to make sure you are all aware of The Mystic Jewell's monthly event happening this Saturday called "Aura". This event is hard to explain well, as I haven't seen anything like it anywhere, so let me share a few reviews from months past. This is the perfect place to get your shimmy on, so far the DJs definitley cater to us bellydancers! :) (Event info follows reviews)

---------------
WOW.
What can I say? Words can't describe the experience without having been there yourself. Everything about this party was great.

The Mystic Jewel, wow what a badass studio it is. With its mid Eastern decor and architecture, it had a really good vibe all on its own. I can't wait to see another party here!

--------------

I have been to the last two Auras and can't wait for the next. I really haven't ever seen or felt anything quite like it, really an amazing event and definitley growing in popularity based on the number of people I saw out on the dance floor last month. The word must be getting out.

The DJs make it almost impossible not to get up and dance, and when you are past the point of exhaustion the atmosphere is PERFECT for chilling. The stage area on the dance floor is a great place to lounge on a giant pillow while you have a drink, smoke some hookah, listen to the DJ and watch the silhouettes of dancers in front of the visuals on the giant projection screen.

What else is there to say?

-------------

I have to say Aura was nothing short of amazing!!!!! This was my first time attending and I was impressed in every way! If you have not given this event a try, YOU SHOULD and won't be disappointed. I felt right at home with the vibe being refreshing and positive. Those dancing were definitely flowing with the awesome music. The lighting/sound and visuals were all right on! Mystic Jewel is a unique venue and perfect for events like these. There are chill areas and other seating on the dance floor. The hardwood floor was nice, especially with being able to take the clunky shoes off and dance freely in socks or barefoot.

Thank you Overmind Works and any others kind enough to help make this event possible!!! Keep up the good work. I could see this event was well organized, professionally done and much effort put into it.

-------------

It was STELLAR. I haven't seen people dancing like that or a vibe like that in what seems like ages...

------------

Aura 2.0 was badass!
music was sweet, the people were great, the dancers, the vibe, decor, venue, all of it!

-------------

Come see it for yourself!!

This Saturday

11.11.06

Overmind Works and Mystic Jewell Studio present...

Aura

A dance music showcase featuring ethno-chill tunes, ancient tribal beats and cutting edge Psychedelic Trance from around the world.

for all of you who have pre-ordered the Domba DVDs, they are on the way! We've had a couple of delays due to the printers being behind schedule, as well as myself not realizing they are being reproduced out of state, which adds a week of shipping time on each end. argh! So they are now scheduled to arrive mid-Octoberish. I will ship them to you as soon as they're in my hot little hands, so expect them just in time for All Hallow's Eve!

Time to begin planning our annual Spring Natyam is looming. Before I set any dates, I would like to know from the other belly mavens in the community what events are already planned so as to avoid a conflict of interest.
I will also check on the phx bdancer schedules tribe but figured this would reach the majority.
I am hoping for early spring again, either Jan, Feb or Mar. and I have some killer ideas for this years event to make it even more successful than last year's!

Domba endings

Hello everyone!
This is a difficult letter to write and I’m not even sure where to start, but wanted to let you all know the changes happening with Domba.

It’s been a year of lots of changes for myself personally and a year of reflection on where to direct my energies and time. My entire year has been one of endings and beginnings in nearly every aspect of my life. Earlier this year, I decided to sell the Domba Studio in order to have more time for my family. My girls are growing up so fast and I unfortunately did not have the time needed to continue running the studio. The Studio needs love and attention to keep growing and I realized that someone else could better fill those shoes. So the Studio was purchased by one of our dancer students, Missy, who has kept it alive and well under the new name the Mystic Jewell. For class schedules and events, you can visit her web-site at www.mysticjewell.com

After the Studio was sold, other Universal events made it clear to me that my path is not with dance at the moment. My miscarriage during our summer tour of the UK was unfortunately the trigger to finally make me realize this! It has taken me a very long time to come to terms with this, as dance is my heart and soul. It has been very difficult to let go of, however, I have made the leap and have decided to formally stop dancing in regards to performance and Domba. I may still teach a local class here and there to keep myself in shape and stay connected with the dance community, whom I love so much, but the workshops, performances and traveling have all had to be put aside.

The Domba gals and I have gotten together and decided as a group, that the best course of action is to let Domba go out in the light of this year. We were nominated and won Troupe of the Year through Zaghareet Magazine and are so thrilled to have this beautiful award! So many big thanks to all our fellow dancers who voted for us! We’ve finally completed our first two instructional videos and they will be on the market later this month. We also finished up our second tour of the UK and Ireland this year and are so happy to have met and danced with so many of the UK/Irish girls! What better way to go out than with all this on our plate!

The Domba girls are still dancing and performing, and working on both individual and collective dance avenues. If you’re interested in workshops or performances with them, I know that all of them are all still very excited about dance and teaching, and they have tons of fun stuff going on! If you’d like to contact them, I’ll list their contact info at the end of this email.

I will also still be making the trademark Domba costumes! www.domba.com is still up and running and I will continue to sell costumes on-line and at Renaissance Faires, as well as at the Mystic Jewell Studio.

In October, I will be closing down the Domba Tribe on Tribe.net.

Many many thanks to everyone who has been a part of Domba throughout the years – either directly or as an audience member giving us your energy! There are so many over the past 19 years that I’ve been dancing! From my humble beginnings as a student trying to get some coordination, to all those who hosted us in workshops and helped form our direction, to those whose creativity and passion changed the course of Domba with their influence, and everyone who supported us in all our projects and endeavors. It’s been a lifetime of experiences and memories that I am happy to have!

Personally, I cannot express how much appreciation I have for everyone that has touched me over the years, taught me lessons, guided me and supported me. We’ve had so many good times and laughs and travels, and my life and heart has been filled with joy from it. The community that is created through art and dance has fulfilled me and made me so happy for so many years. My heart still cries for it, but I know that I am following my path by moving onto other things. I don’t’ know what that path is yet, and it’s scary to be out here in the dark with no direction, but it still feels like the right direction to be moving.

In an effort to "help" our computer-email crash situation, my honey did some rearranging on our computer, thus accidentally deleting my email addy book AGAIN!
Even if you emailed me your address recenlty, please resend it. I have none---not a single one for anyone.
I most need the addresses of my troupe, the musicians, those who like to know when our performances are and my students. I had a list of over 100 students and now I have zero. Message me your email address please here on tribe so I can reload. Thanks bunches.
Also, if you have emailed me in the past 2 weeks and have gotten no reply it is because I lost a bunch of emails as well. Re contact me please.

yes, the Domba Instructional Videos are finally headed to the printers – yay! And you thought we’d never get them done! Ha!

We have “Shimmy Shimmy Drop Drop”, Domba combos for the Tribal Dancer, featuring our signature Domba Tribal moves – 65 mins of slow moves, medium moves, drops, and shimmies with all the Domba girls!

AND our second release of “Belly Belly AfroBelly”, featuring Domba’s unique African Fusion style moves as taught by Heidi Alexander of Domba, and her partner in dance for 10 years, Jenabah Giacomelli of Tree of Life Studio in Michigan. Much of Domba’s African style inspiration comes directly from this gal – the flying dancer, as some call her, for her off-the-floor-flying barrel turns (yes, those are taught on the video!).

Both videos will be ready for mailing later this month, but you can pre-order yours for a special introductory price! After September, each video will be $35, but if you pre-order, you can get BOTH of them for $60 (plus shipping) – a savings of $10 off the set. Yes, you can get just one for $30 plus shipping, but you know you’re going to want both!

If you’re ready to order, you can send payment directly to domba@cox.net www.paypal.com and please include $6 shipping charges on each order for domestic orders, and $12 shipping for international.

Or, you can visit our site at www.domba.com and visit our new items page for the special discounted rate.

Yours in Dance,
Heidi and Domba!

Zoe Jakes of BDSS and The Indigo in Tucson, Sept. 2nd, 2006!!

Hi there everyone!! I am so excited to announce that Brandye Asya and Azar Dance Company have come together yet again to present ZOE JAKES, of the Belly Dance Superstars and The Indigo. Zoe will be here on September 2nd, 2006. That is only in a couple of weeks. This workshop is going to be amazing!! It will be a 4 hour workshop with a 2 hour lunch break to enjoy shopping, eating at any of the wonderful restaurants down on 4th Avenue, or just hanging out and getting to know people. We are holding the workshop at the Anjali studio on 4th Avenue again, but this time we will have a stage for Zoe so that she can be seen by all dancers.

Registration forms, paypal links, and more info can be found at www.azardance.com/classeszoe.html

Here is a description from Zoe:

"My focus as a dancer and teacher is first and foremost expression, something that can't really be taught, as it is individual to each one of us, but can be facilitated with strong technique and the right environment. Fluidity of movement, and the ability to use the simplest move to connect with the audience, are things I think every student can work on, but of course I think that there is a place for wowing them with crisp pops and multi-layering!

In the workshop dynamics of motion will be studied (aka not throwing everything out all at once, but holding back a little), and posture, upper body awareness from the shoulders all the way to the fingertips. The workshop will begin with deep stretching and exercises for strengthening, isolations, and of course, lots of drills ....don't forget water and a yoga mat! Kicks and spins will be highlighted, spot turns, paddle turns, and initiating a turn with virtually any part of the body."

Registration forms, paypal links, and more info can be found at www.azardance.com/classeszoe.html

For more info on Zoe visit her website at www.bellydancezoe.com/ or on Tribe at www.tribes.tribe.net/zoe

Have a great night everyone!!!!!!!!!!
